EMTAK is Estonia's economic-activity classification, based on NACE. Use it to narrow a company search by registered activity, then check whether the companies actually fit your offer.

Read the activity description

Search the official EMTAK catalogue using words for the customer's work. Read the description and exclusions before selecting a code. A broad construction category can include businesses with very different equipment or service needs.

The Business Register explains that selecting a main activity does not prevent a company from doing other work. Treat the code as a selection criterion, not a complete description of the business.

Check the version and level

EMTAK 2025 took effect on 1 January 2025. Existing companies move to the updated classification through annual reporting, so check the version when using an older list. Use the catalogue's correspondence tables rather than assuming an old code still has the same meaning.

In Innovadata's API and MCP, a two-digit activity code selects a division; more detailed codes match exactly. Get valid codes through list_activities and review the returned labels before using them.

Add only conditions that serve the task

If you maintain equipment on-site, location and company size may matter after the activity filter. If you need to call, include phone availability. Inspect a few companies before buying the list, because a code does not establish demand for your service.

Open the company search and compare the count after each condition. If a filter removes the companies you expected, check the field definition before widening the whole industry.
